About Bakersfield Barbecue Co.
Full service restaurant
Located at 700 21st St, Bakersfield, CA 93301, Bakersfield Barbecue Co. operates as a chinese bbq serving Bakersfield in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–8 pm. Bakersfield is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Bakersfield follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and even better food. The brisket was delicious. Price was very reasonable too.

The food was okay overall, but it didn’t really stand out the way I was hoping. The mac and cheese was creamy, the fries were decent, and the BBQ sauce had good flavor. The service was great, which I really appreciated. My biggest issue was that the tri-tip and brisket almost tasted the same, so it was hard to really enjoy them as two different meats. Still a solid BBQ spot and worth trying.

Now, wait a minute, nobody told me this was better than Saltys BBQ. I didn't quite expect the meat to be so tender and juicy. Ordered the Mo' Meat with chicken and links and 2 sides. The Mac n cheese was gooey and cheesy and the coleslaw really did the trick for the links that brought heat to the mouth. It comes on a nice hot platter, so be careful with that. The only downside was they were out of Tri tips and few other meats, so that was a bummer. But, overall a nice place for BBQ, the do also have outdoor sitting area, which is huge. Would love to go back and try their tri tips and sandwiches. Huge menu with plenty of options.

This was my first time trying this spot and I was excited to try it after looking at their reviews. However I did not have a pleasant experience and was rather disappointed. I ordered a 2 meat plate and ordered tri-tip and chicken. In my opinion, I found the appearance of the chicken unappealing and did not like the taste either. I’m not saying the chicken was undercooked but I didn’t want to continue eating something I wasn’t going to enjoy or feel satisfied. I talked to one of the employees and she didn’t do much help. She told me the cook wasn’t going to exchange the chicken and if I wanted a different meat then it was going to be an up charge. I was honestly surprised by their response, I’ve never been to a place that doesn’t remake or offer to make a difference in your food if you didn’t quite enjoy it. Overall wouldn’t come back based off experience and wouldn’t recommend the chicken based off appearance and lack of seasoning.

This is one of my favorite barbecue places, I usually get their two items plate with brisket && the ribs that fall off the bone but today I finally got to try one of their Friday Burger Specials. I'm so glad I did because this burger was so delicious, &juicy. "They took snakeriverfarms gold brisket and ground it to make their famous 10 oz monster patties. Which they topped it with some bourbon caramelized onions, a bone marrow compound butter, smoked bacon then topped with havarti cheese. All on a butter toasted brioche bun with a Dijon garlic aioli." && It did not disappoint. The sides were tasty, absolutely loved the creamy Mac&cheese and the fresh hush puppies. Definitely will order their fried pickles again. Everyone was so friendly. From the girl working the register to the cooks at the grill where we got the burger. Denise was an amazing help and brought us boxes because we couldn't finish everything & despite it being busy non stop the employees were on top on everything. Can't wait to go back. Thank you for a great Friday lunch.
